National Army Museum

This engaging museum is the leading authority on the history of the British Army, and not surprisingly it’s full of interest, whether or not you’re keen on military history. All of Britain’s major battles and wars are represented and the collection features many key historical artefacts. There’s a paper lantern used by Florence Nightingale in the Crimea, a medical kit used to aid holocaust survivors from Belsen and a selection of Indian toy soldiers, which children are sure to find fascinating.A range of special exhibitions are also hosted here and have recently included an exhibition focusing on the war comic and one looking at the impact of the Korean War. One of the capital’s best free attractions.
